Marketing: Customers Will Not Buy What They Don’t Know Exists
Marketing is important to the notoriety and growth of your business. Marketing could also be the major reason your business drowns and die or it could be the reason that your business ignites and blast off to another level. According to Schussler (1994), “Success or failure isn’t always determined by the quality of what you produce or provide; it is also a function of public awareness that your product or service is out there and available for purchase.” Now when I first read this statement I had an interesting look on my face, as to say I didn’t understand how could you have a high-quality service or product but because of the lack of marketing you really don’t have a product. I had an “O” moment and then I could understand that if your product is never introduced, to the right people, or your product is not presented in an appealing way; you may as well be without a product or service.
According to Lorette (2016), “For a business to succeed, the product or service it provides must be known to potential buyers. Unless your business is known in the community and has communication with your customers readily available, you have to use marketing strategies to create product or service awareness. Without marketing, your business may not grow.” As I plan for my non-profit, and explore the past assignments I have learned that the use of a press release is important. A press release explains what your business is about, who the person that is behind the idea of the service that is being provided, and the reason we need this service. These explanations are necessary so that they can be presented to the specific Industry of Experts so that a customer base is made.
Finally, as I continue to grow my non-profit, I try to align my service with those agencies and organizations that I believe my service would best fit. The more reputable my service become in a concentrated area, it is my expectation that I can expand my marketing strategies through the use of free news interviews, newspaper articles, and multiple social media outlets. I believe as long as I can provide a positive service that impacts the community in a way that has never been before, people will want to know how, who, and what can we do to change our own community. Numbers never lie, and the right marketing of those numbers to the right group of people will grow our business.
